The Breathe In Space: Accredited Yoga Teacher Training

200 hours Teacher Training Syllabus

Module One: Asana, Pranayama practise including safety, counterposes, variations

45 hours = x6 sessions

Module Two: Teaching Methodology and Pedagogy including vinyasa, pace, voice and planning techniques

45 hours = x6 sessions

Module Three: Physiology and anatomy including how Yoga enhances the main functions of the body

22.5 = x3 sessions

Module Four: Self Development including classical and modern spiritual texts of Yoga, meditation and self practise – this will include a project on a Yoga theme or subject of your choice

22.5 = x3 sessions

Module Five: Energy Work including chakras, sound, Yogic cleansing practices, bandhas etc

22.5 = x3 sessions

Module Six: Practical – an opportunity to lead a class in studio – regular practice will be available in training sessions with course colleagues

22.5 = x3 sessions

 

The course will be split approximately 70% theory and 30% practical application.

Course break down

180/12 = 15 hours (a month) contact time = 7.5 hours a Saturday – eg 10-5:30, twice a month

 or broken down into evening sessions of two hours over eg x4 days

NB These may be extended or swapped around to suit our needs as a group

20 hours non contact – written work and/or self practice – self practice is expected to continue and evidence be collected eg tick sheet of classes attended – but does not wholly contribute to the non contact hours

NB these modules are planned on monthly schedule of classes, however, dependent on need of cohort, may not always be in this order – CAN REVISIT DURING OTHER TOPICS TO INTERLINK

Restorative Yoga Syllabus
Content: Restorative Yoga
40hrs – 32hrs contact, 8hrs self study
Module One: History and evolution, influence of BKS Iyengar and
Judith Hanson-Lasater, comparisons between Restorative, Yin and
Gentle Hatha forms, The Nervous System and Restorative Yoga,
benefits of Restorative Yoga

Module Two: Basic A&P of muscular skeletal system and
parasympathetic Nervous System, Stress physiology and relaxation
response, Breath and how we calm nervous system – trauma
informed sensitivities –

Module Three: Core poses , prop placement, cues, timings,
sequencing, breathwork and visualisation considerations, teaching
styles and environmental considerations, hands on adjustments

Module Four: Teaching Considerations, Contra Indications, Setting up
safe Spaces, risk assessments, first aid and insurances, Ethical practices

Yoga Nidra Syllabus

Content: 

40hrs – 32hrs contact, 8hrs self study

Module One: Historical Timeline of Nidra, Philosophical Context, IRest, Satyananda & Himilayan Schools of Nidra, Being Trauma Informed – SAMHSA, therapeutic benefits

Module Two-  Sankalpa, Visualisation Language, Safety, practical application for, eg, PTSD

Module Three: Nidra and the Sleep Cycle link, Brain Effects, Creativity and writing our own – the Nidra ‘framework’

Module Four: Teaching Considerations, Contra Indications, Setting up safe Spaces, Nidra alongside other modalities, Practice & creating scripts

Chair Yoga Syllabus
Content: Chair Yoga
40hrs – 32hrs contact, 8hrs self study
Module One: How is Yoga in a chair ‘Yoga’ and not
exercise? Adaptions of poses, use of props, How yoga
works as a holistic healing aid

Module Two: Language of Yoga, Yogic philosophy from
Gita to Sutras and beyond, pranayama

Module Three: Sequencing safely in a chair, standing
with chair as prop and seated only class maps,
thematic teaching

Module Four: Teaching Considerations, Contra
Indications, Setting up safe Spaces, risk assessments,
first aid and insurances

Syllabus - Kids Yoga
40 Hours course (28 contact, 12 non contact)
Taken over 4-6 weeks, Saturdays
or
Over one week for 4-5 days (minimum 5 attending)
or
as training in house for schools across a half term x 1 a week (this can be varied to suit your
school's needs and focus) You can attend some or all online at special request and
arrangement.
